Professor

Alan T. Dyer is a Professor of Plant Pathology at Montana State University in the Department of Plant Science and Plant Pathology. Alan is based in Bozeman, Montana and is responsible for conducting research on diseases of Montana's crops. Alan also teaches “Concepts in Plant Pathology” BIOM 421, "Plant Disease Control" PSPP550, and manages the Crop Science Program at Montana State University. Alan’s research focuses on the ecology root and seed-borne pathogens. He seeks disease management options that can be seamlessly integrate into Montana's low input production systems. Alan’s received degrees from the University of Minnesota (Ph.D. in 2002 and M.S. 1999 both in Plant Pathology) and Cornell University (B.S. in 1989 in Plant Biology). Alan has been working alongside organic growers on the biocontrol of Canada Thistle since 2022.
