Resilient Montana Meat Processing

Description: Our December call will address the next steps for this Resilient Meat Processing Group—how best to hand off this conversation to the diverse collection of players across Montana who are now engaging at all levels to build decentralized meat processing in Montana.    Becky  Weed and Tommy Bass (MSU Extension) have started discussing the possibility of establishing a Montana-specific network that could be affiliated with the Niche Meat Processor Network that Rebecca Thistlethwaite discussed on our last call.   This is meant to be an ongoing connection amongst different projects across the state for the purposes of information/resource sharing and coordination; it NOT aimed at replacing or directing the healthy grassroots ventures already underway (e.g. Farmers Union work to establish education and mobile kill capacity in Havre; other mobile kill facility plans underway in other portions of the state, etc.).  Tommy Bass has agreed to help to lead and facilitate our December call, and we want to open the discussion for all suggestions of next steps.
